NO LONGER STANDING. In May 2004 several hazel structures were placed in the wood, away from existing paths. This small group of organic sculptures were a response to the environment in which they were made. Containing equal elements of strength and fragility in their structure, as objects they occupied an area in-between contemporary visual art and traditional craft sensibilities. They contained a shelter-like playfulness, reminiscent of the impromptu shelters which often appear at the Trail. In October 2005 some of these sculptures were replaced as a part of art workshop activity on the Trial. The sculptures had collapsed by September 2006.
