Cranes by Sally Barker. |
|
NO LONGER IN SITU. Sited above a long, dark avenue of trees, Sally's crane sculptures were reminiscent of birds perching in the branches, as well as cheap glittery souvenir models of the Eiffel tower. The artist enjoys subverting her subject matter; taking strong, dependable structures and recreating them in miniature as weak, delicate sculptures, and in doing so removing the sense of purpose and function inherent in the original object. This work was removed at the end of 2006.
